Just before fashion weeks starts I’m so happy to be able to share the essential message of Madhu Vaishnav, founder of Saheli Women… the message of community and joy.

The incredible beauty of decolonising the garment that Saheli Women taught me during my immersion stay with them in January 2023.
Clothing has long carried the weight of colonial histories—cotton, dye, and labour extracted while local traditions were silenced. To decolonise the garment is to restore voice: to honour the hands that weave and sew, to remember the stories embedded in fabric, and to resist the erasure of ancestral craft. Every stitch can become an act of memory, dignity, and renewal.
